People even like to buy some of their clothing online. Of course, there are some challenges associated with buying clothing online that do not exist with buying other items online. For starters, some people just do not like to buy any type of clothing, including designer clothing, without being able to try it on first. Even if the particular online retailer in question has a decent return policy, some people just do not like to be bothered with the possibility that they might need to return anything at all, and so they generally avoid shopping online for clothing.
On the other hand, if you are not particularly worried about return policies, and if you like the idea of shopping in the privacy and comfort of your own home, and if you also have a fairly good idea of what your consistent dress size is in clothing made by a variety of different designers, then shopping online for clothing (and even rather expensive designer clothing, such as a designer dress) may be a truly viable option for you at least to consider.
Of course, you could just dip your toe in the water before you dive all the way in by purchasing only one garment online and seeing how the experience goes from start to finish. Take note of how the whole experience goes. Is the company’s customer service satisfactory? Is their sizing accurate, in your opinion? Do they provide a reasonable return policy? If that first experience with shopping for designer clothing goes pretty smoothly, then you may just decide to do it again in the future.
Online shopping is the process consumers go through to purchase products or services over the Internet. An online shop, eshop, e-store, internet shop, webshop, webstore, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or in a shopping mall.
Webshop
The term “Webshop” also refers to a place of business where web development, web hosting and other types of web related activities take place (Web refers to the World Wide Web and “shop” has a colloquial meaning used to describe the place). Buying online introduced new ways of reducing costs by reducing the number of staff needed. It is a more effective way of getting products to people and spreading into different demographics.
Benefits of online shopping
1. Bargaining power of consumers. They enjoy a wider choice
2. Supplier power. It is more difficult for consumers to manage a non-digital channel.
3. Internet increases commoditisation
4. Threat of new entrants. Online means it is easier to introduce new services with lower over-heads
5. Threat of substitutes
6. Rivalry among competitors. It is easier to introduce products and services to different markets
